The community turned out nearly 1,000 strong in support of Van Alstyne High School student Riley Sprowl, who was paralyzed in a sledding accident on Dec. 11. A benefit auction was held on Saturday with all proceeds going to the Sprowl family. A barbecue dinner was held at 5 p.m. before the auction started at 7 p.m. Thousands were raised for Riley and the Sprowl family.
