From High Tops to Evening Gowns: Earning the Crown

Kendall Nelms, a junior at Howe High School, is a varsity cheerleader, a member of Color Guard and a varsity basketball player. She is also a pageant winner. Nelms competed in the Miss Fort Worth pageant, a preliminary pageant for the Miss America organization, in November. Competing in four phases of competiton — interview, fitness, talent and evening gown — Nelms won the title of Fort Worth’s Outstanding Teen. She also took home best overall interview and best evening gown. Nelms is not done as she will be competing the week of June 28 through July 5 for the title of Teen Texas at the Eisemann Center in Richardson.
