On Oct. 23, at approximately 1 p.m., Howe Police Department officer Jamie Morris responded to a report of a man loitering at Quick Check on Haning Street. Upon arrival, Morris spoke with people who pointed out 51-year-old Steven Alan Holland of Dallas, and said he had just damaged two motor vehicles (a 2010 Chrysler van and 2008 Ford F-250) on the parking lot by scratching them with a key.
Morris approached Holland, who was standing in front of the store. According to reports, Holland became nervous upon being questioned by the officer and then became verbally abusive, cursing loudly. Morris arrested Holland for criminal mischief over $1,500. After getting him handcuffed, reports indicate that Holland refused to get in the officer’s patrol car and forcefully resisted the officer’s attempts to put him in the patrol car. Morris reported that Holland spit at her several times, and succeeded in spitting in her face once.
Officers from Van Alstyne, Grayson County and Tioga responded to assist. Holland was taken to the Grayson County Jail where he was booked for criminal mischief over $1,500 and harrassment of a public servant, a third degree felony.
On Oct. 24, at approximately 8 a.m. HPD officer Cory George stopped a 25-year-old Sherman woman on Doyle Street for an expired motor vehicle inspection sticker. The officer discovered that the woman had outstanding Capias warrants for her arrest out of Grayson County for driving while license invalid. George issued the woman a citation for the expired MVI and arrested her on the outstanding warrants.
