The Van Alstyne Fire Department brought back its popular Teddy Bear Hospital after a warm reception in 2013, giving local kids a chance to get their beloved stuffed companions some quality medical care. Volunteers applied gauze and bandage to teddy bears, giraffes and the like while families took the opportunity to check out the CareFlite helicopter that was landed just feet away, as well as the fire trucks and ambulances from Van Alstyne, Howe and Tom Bean. VAFD plans to bring the hospital back again in 2015. The event was held by the Scout Hut and Old Panther Stadium just off of Highway 5 on May 21.
