The Van Alstyne Middle School eighth grade Careers class traveled to Grayson College to get a hands-on look at several different educational opportunities that GCC provides.

Steve Davis gave a presentation to the students about vocational training offered by GCC, such as welding, cosmetology, heating and air conditioning, among many others.

Shelle Cassell led the students on a guided tour of the campus. The VAMS career students were able to view the new technology center on campus, the welding shop and various nursing classrooms and labs.

Kim Weber helped the students navigate Grayson County College’s website and guide them through the Career Coach feature. She also helped them answer several questions about potential careers and the education/training needed for those careers.

The eighth graders thoroughly enjoyed their campus visit and were able to get valuable insight into the college experience. They were even treated to brownies and ice cream during a refreshment break.
