It has been announced that Rev. Gloria Dean Nelson Young has been assigned to Morning Chapel Christian Methodist Episcopal Church, located at 1047 East Marshall Drive in Van Alstyne.
Sunday Worship Service begins at 110 a.m., and the public is invited to worship with the new pastor and her congregation. The text is based on the New King James Version of the Bible, and all are welcome to join them. The church is an outreach ministry designed for people to worship, serve, and implement their ministries at the same time. Morning Chapel is under the leadership of the CME Church Dallas District.
Young was born and raised in Sherman. She graduated from Paul Quinn College in Waco and has a Master’s Degree from Prairie View A & M University. She has an Associate Certificate from Interdenominational Theology Center (ITC) in Atlanta, Ga., and is in the process of earning a Doctorate Degree in Theology. She was pastor at Mount Olivet “Garden of Gethsemane” CME Church, “Mission Charge” for four years in Sherman. She pastored Mount Pisgah CME Church in Jacksboro for two years.
Young served as an associate minister at Morning Chapel CME Church in Ft. Worth for five years. She has one child, son Leslie T. Byrd. She is an Assistant Professor at Texas College in Tyler.
Young will be at the church on Saturday at 11 a.m. and invites the public to come and meet her join her in a Fish Fry at which a fellowship donation of $7 will be accepted. The public is invited to worship with Morning Chapel CME Church Every Sunday at 11 a. m.
