On Aug. 13, Van Alstyne EMS transported an adult male in his early 20’s following an accident on a four-wheel all-terrain vehicle. The victim reportedly suffered a broken femur.
On Aug. 9, EMS responders transported a severe head trauma patient to Medical Center of Plano. The patient had been inserting piers in a residential structure when it gave way and he was struck in the head by an iron bar. He is reportedly in good condition.
Also on the 9th, a 4-year-old was pulled out of a pool, unconscious, after drowning. Paramedics worked to revive the non-breathing patient, initiating stomach thrusts. She was transported in good condition to Wilson-Jones Hospital in Sherman.
Additionally, VAFD responders worked with CareFlite to transport an adult male who had fallen 26 feet through a roof onto concrete.
VAFD Notes: Fire Chief Landon Smith reported that the department had recently completed Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation training with CareFlite on Wednesday.
