Van Alstyne police had a relatively quiet week from Dec. 23 to Dec. 30 with just two incidents reported.
On Dec. 25, a criminal trespass was reported in the 100 block of N. Dallas Ave at 9:25 a.m. There were no arrests made and the case is under investigation.
On Dec. 28, a theft of $500 - $1,500 was reported in the 100 block of Columbia College. According to VAPD Chief Tim Barnes, the stolen items were reported to be prescription medication.
Over the past week, VAPD responded to 131 calls for service.
Barnes also wanted to remind those in the community to not drink and drive over the holidays. If you will be drinking, advised Barnes, make sure and have a designated driver as police will be out in force, especially on New Year’s Eve. And the department does obtain warrants for immediate blood draws for suspected drunk drivers.
“We will have increased patrols out so don’t take the chance,” said Barnes.
