A lengthy investigation by the Van Alstyne Police Department culminated in the arrest of a mother and her son at a house on Tolson Ave. on Sunday.
Van Alstyne police officers executed a search warrant at 454 Tolson as the result of the narcotics investigation. After VAPD officers gained forced entry into the home they arrested 49-year-old female Sheri Cofsky on possession of a controlled substance. Police also arrested her 28-year-old son Jesse Paskiewicz on an outstanding Grayson County warrant for possession of a controlled substance, though that arrest was unrelated to the VAPD warrant.
Inside the residence, police found 16 grams of methamphetamine with an approximate street value of $2,000 located in a safe.
The investigation into Cofsky is ongoing and charges could be upgraded at a later date.
During the course of executing the search warrant a VAPD officer was injured while on foot. The officer was transported by ambulance to a local hospital where his injuries were found to be non-life-threatening, and he was treated and released.
