The Lady Panther volleyball team got its 2013 opening practice off to a vigorous start, running a mile on the Panther Stadium track on Monday.

Head coach Miranda Sun and her assistants, Julie Thomas, Jason Brogdon, Jentry Mejia and Brandy Warren, welcomed approximately 35 girls to the first day of practice, and after the warm-up the team moved inside for the first of many court drills to be conducted during the opening week.

The team’s first scrimmage is set for Aug. 13 as the Lady Panthers travel to Howe to take on the Lady Bulldogs. The team’s first tournament of the season opens on Aug. 15 as the Lady Panthers play in the Colln County Spike Fest.

The first home match for the team will be Aug. 16 as Van Alstyne hosts Denison in a 4:30 start.
