The Van Alstyne Panthers saw their 12-game win streak come to a close Friday night in Sunnyvale as the Raiders came away with a 57-52 victory.

Leading 31-30 at the half, Van Alstyne could not sustain its offensive momentum in the second half as it dropped its first game of the season.

The Panthers are now 12-1 with a 1-1 record in District 12-2A play.

Jared McMakin had his best scoring night of the year, leading the game with 21 points. He was the only Panther in double figures as the Raider defense did a good job shutting down Van Alstyne’s perimeter attack.

Ryan Cottingame, the Raiders 6-5 standout, scored 12 points to lead his team.

Van Alstyne returns to court action on Thursday as it competes in the Allen Tournament, opening against Princeton in a 10 a.m. game.
