The Lady Panther track team, behind the 34-point performance of Sierra Motley, edged Sunnyvale for the 2013 District 12-2A Track and Field Championships at Panther Stadium on April 11.
Van Alstyne out-pointed the Lady Raiders, 127-121, to take the team title.
Motley finished first in the high jump and triple jump, added a fourth place finish in the 100-meter hurdles and ran the lead-off leg on the winning 4x100 and 4x200 relay teams.
Two other Lady Panther performers finished in the top five as Hannah Fernandez finished third and Maddy Morris was fourth in scoring.
Fernandez finished first in the Pole Vault, clearing 8’5” and ran the anchor leg on both relay teams. Morris was fourth in the 100-meter dash and ran on the relay teams, as well.
Sydney Sprowl won the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.22 and ran on those winning relay teams.
Molly McQuirk finished second in both the 1600- and 3200-meter runs and will advance to the Area meet.
The top four individuals and relay teams qualified for the Area meet held in Pottosboro on April 18.
On the boys side, Evan McQuirk picked up another double win for the Panthers, copping both distance events to move on to the next round. Alex Mayes finished fourth in the shot to advance.
