VA Kids Win Charity Golf Tourney

Four Van Alstyne boys participated in and won the Scottish Rite KidSwing Golf Tournament in their 10-12 age division Monday afternoon on the Hills Course of the Stonebridge Country Club in McKinney. The team consisted of four, 12-year-old boys: Nathan Cuthbertson, Brock Powers, Gage Proctor and Ben Williams. They played very well as a team and outplayed seven other foursomes to bring home the hardware. It was a team effort as Proctor drove his tee shot almost to the green to set them up for a birdie, Williams pitched a good shot to get them close to the pin and Cuthbertson and Powers made clutch putts for birdie to keep them even. The best part of the day was when the crowd learned the players were able to raise more than $82,000 for Scottish Rite Hospital. The boys celebrated their victory swimming at the pool after the tournament. For more information about KidSwing, go to www.kidswing.org.
