The Van Alstyne powerlifting team traveled to Princeton to compete in the Princeton Invitational on Jan. 18, a powerlifting meet held at the expansive indoor practice facility at the high school.

A small but dedicated team of Lady Panthers participated in their second meet of the season, and the team finished 13th in a field of 18 schools. Most of those participating schools were from Class 4A and 5A.

All of the three Lady Panther lifters who received scores in the meet bettered their totals from the prior week’s Anna Invitational.

Bailee Glenn had the best improvement on the team, beating her Anna total lift by 55 pounds.

On the boys’ side, Will Brogdon finished fourth in his 275-pound weight class with a total lift of 1,245 pounds. Jake Haker claimed a personal best in the squat with a lift of 375, 15 pounds more than his previous best. Haker finished fifth in the 165-pound class with a total of 1,025, another season-high.
