Volleyball Roundup — Denison gets district win

Jamiah Ballard finished with 33 kills and six digs as Denison rallied past Royse City, 21-25, 25-20, 23-25, 25-22, 15-8, in District 13-4A action on Friday night.

Kaycie Hamilton chipped in seven kills, 12 digs and three aces, Harley Goodin and Nicole Swindell each collected 12 digs, Dee Harris finished with seven digs, Melanie Garcia handed out 26 assists and Sara Shumaker totaled 13 assists and nine digs for Denison (7-25, 1-8), which plays at Greenville on Tuesday night.

Wylie East def. Sherman 3-2

WYLIE — Madison Winslett had 23 kills and 25 digs for Sherman but Wylie East outlasted the Lady Bearcats, 25-22, 19-25, 28-30, 25-20, 15-12, in a nearly three-hour match on Friday night in 13-4A action.

Caroline LeCrone added 16 kills and three blocks, Sami Powers chipped in eight kills and 23 assists, Jayzhia Softly finished with five kills, four blocks and two aces, Mary Kate Motley handed out 17 assists, Paige Aleman collected 35 digs, Kennedy Jewell totaled 15 digs, Emma Raney had five kills and two blocks for Sherman (19-12, 4-5), which hosts Wylie on Tuesday night.

The Lady Bearcats were without middle blocker Kelsey Lillis, who was injured in practice on Wednesday.

District 11-2A Callisburg def. Whitesboro 3-0

WHITESBORO — Callisburg clinched a playoff spot with its 25-13, 25-9, 25-20 victory against Whitesboro on Friday night.

Kristen Phelps put down nine kills, Casey Lang chipped in four assists and six digs, Kristen McCanlies handed out eight assists, Kylin Lemons collected seven digs, Kerigan McCanlies totaled six digs and Terilyn Bufkin finished with 13 digs for Whitesboro, which hosts Bells at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.

Howe def. Bells 3-0

HOWE — Hailey DeFrange put down six kills as Howe defeated Bells, 25-20, 25-14, 25-17, in district play on Friday night.

Riley Harvey added six kills and six digs, Tiffany Lallier chipped in five kills, Morgan Carney finished with four kills, Aurian James totaled four kills, six digs and 21 assists and CC Counts collected nine digs for Howe.

Carlee Shelby finished with seven kills, Bree Joyce added five kills, Emily Fagan totaled seven assists and six digs, Callie Snyder handed out seven assists and Macy Sanders collected nine digs for Bells (21-9, 5-4).

Pottsboro def. Whitewright 3-2

WHITEWRIGHT — Darby Wallace had 14 kills, six blocks and five digs as Pottsboro rallied past Whitewright, 25-11, 16-25, 22-25, 25-16, 15-12, in district play on Saturday.

Taturm Marburger added 12 kills and 11 digs, Morgan Kent put down 10 kills, Bailey Wilson chipped in five kills, 16 assists, 12 digs and three aces, Lindsey Evans finished with 15 assists and 11 digs, Kelli Frye collected 20 digs and Ansleigh Oakley totaled 19 digs for Pottsboro (18-9, 7-2), which hosts Tom Bean on Tuesday night.

Anna Shope had 18 assists, seven kills, six digs and two aces and Sydney Brummett garnered 17 digs and 10 kills for Whitewright (13-17, 5-4). Shelby Poe totaled 15 digs, six kills and two aces, Alyssa Benjamin had 13 digs and Zada Swoopes added five blocks and four kills.

District 12-2A Caddo Mills def. Gunter 3-1

CADDO MILS — Mikayla Watson had 19 kills and 26 digs for Gunter but first-place Caddo Mills clinched a playoff spot with a 25-22, 25-17, 19-25, 25-19 victory against the second-place Lady Tigers on Saturday.

Katey Campbell added 13 kills and 12 digs, Regan Hestand chipped in 10 kills and eight digs, Lana Green finished with 14 assists and eight digs, Breanna Adkins totaled 13 assists and 17 digs and Mackenzie Mazerolle collected 17 digs for Gunter (19-7, 6-2).

District 11-A Lindsay def. Collinsville 3-0

COLLINSVILLE — Brooke Johnson had 12 kills, three blocks and 26 digs for Collinsville but first-place Lindsay defeated the second-place Lady Pirates, 25-17, 25-10, 25-15, in district action on Friday night.

Cally Johnson added six kills and 22 digs, Holly Theall chipped in three kills and six assists and Morgan Irelan handed out eight assists for Collinsville (14-14, 7-2), which plays at Gold-Burg on Tuesday night.

District 17-A Savoy def. Trenton 3-1

SAVOY — Lindsey Stone had 12 kills as Savoy picked up its first district victory of the season, 25-23, 19-25, 25-23, 25-21, against Trenton on Friday night.

Hanna White added seven kills, Christina Francis chipped in five kills, six aces, 12 assists and 17 digs, Ashley Melugin totaled four kills and four aces, Jerica Isom handed out eight assists and Kaitlyn Knight collected 10 digs for Savoy.

Blue Ridge def. Roxton 3-0

ROXTON — Blue Ridge moved one step closer to earning a share of the district title after a 26-24, 25-15, 25-10 victory against Roxton on Friday night.

The Lady Tigers remain undefeated in district play and can do no worse than a tie for first place with a victory at home against Savoy on Tuesday night.

Non-district Pilot Point def. Melissa 3-1

PILOT POINT — Madison Rose had nine kills and eight digs for Melissa but Pilot Point defeated the Lady Cardinals, 25-22, 26-24, 23-25, 25-18, in non-district action on Friday night.

Riley Duzenack added nine kills, six digs and 16 assists, Whitney Taylor put down eight kills, Connar Newberry chipped in seven kills, Ashley Henger collected 14 digs, Amber Melcher totaled 18 assists and eight digs and Erin Nelson collected nine digs for Melissa (22-4), which returns to 12-3A action when it plays at Anna on Tuesday night.
